narrative collage

Narrative collage for well-being is an art form that tells a story and can be about anything that holds importance to the client (such as an important person, memorable event, or a special interest).  These stories are created by using a combination of materials that are of value to the client (e.g., broken or intact jewelry from a loved one, old keys to a special place, a button from a cherished garment, or something aesthetically pleasing that may represent something meaningful).  In this creative format, clients’ stories come to life, with a tangible and concrete product as a takeaway. Applications to the narrative collage well-being process are versatile and can be used in a number of situations that include: embracing illness or loss, celebrating a milestone, or moving into a new life phase. Examples of successful changes our clients have experienced:

Hopeful changes

  • Single to married
  • Childless to parent
  • Lower to higher income
  • Student to graduate

Challenging changes

  • Well to ill
  • Married to widowed or divorced
  • Employee to retiree
  • Owning a home to residing in an assisted living facility

Cup and saucer from great aunt is adorned with her antique mirror and pieces of her jewelry hang from the cup’s handle.

“The creation of an art collage from the soul is an inner journey that allows your soul to speak to you. Your soul’s voice can be heard through the images, feelings and insights that surface.”
